Jaw allows coarse feed to enter
The large feed opening of the Nordberg C150 jaw crusher allows the coarsest feed to enter, according to Metso. This, combined with a tall cavity, ensures constant high capacities in demanding large-scale quarrying and mining applications.
The Nordberg C150 jaw is the newest member of the C-series range of crushers, built since 1975 as more than 10 different models. The C150 combines uncompromising reliability, crushing efficiency and versatility in stationary, mobile and portable applications with safety and ease of use.
“We have designed this crusher novelty especially for mines and large quarries. This product is the answer to our customer’s wish for a primary crushing process that is able to handle even the coarsest feed and maintain a trouble-free material flow through the crusher,” says Ilkka Somero, Metso’s product manager for jaw crushers.
The cavity depth of the C150 is 47 in. – a figure common usually with many bigger jaw crushers, Metso says. This, combined with the large feed opening width, allows feed sizes up to 40 in. to enter the cavity and to be crushed efficiently.
“Thanks to this feature, our customers can manage with less blasting materials if requested due to environmental reasons, and yet economically process the coarse quarry feed or ore at the primary crushing stage,” Somero says.
The new C150 design elements include an open back pitman casting technology, improving strength thanks to long ribs placed in two directions, Metso says. The capacity is ensured with increased main shaft eccentricity and improved nip angle due to longer fixed jaw.
Similar to other, well-balanced C jaws, the C150 is easy to install, thanks to its compact design, according to Metso. It includes an optional, integrated motor base and guards. Being well balanced, the C150 is quick, easy and cost-efficient to install using rubber mounting pads underneath the crusher mounting brackets. No separate horizontal supports are needed.
The C150 also features optional robust composite flywheel guards that allow quick and safe access to all service points. The standard delivery includes lifting tools for jaw dies, cheek plates and a toggle plate, contributing to operational safety when changing wear parts.
For C150 jaw dies, several cavity options, including quarry, thick quarry and super grip, are available. Depending on the customer’s preference, it is possible to use either single- or two-piece jaw dies.
The Nordberg C150’s nominal power is 300 hp, Metso says. Operating speed is 220 rpm; closed-side setting is between 5 and 10 in; and the operational weight is 113,000 lbs., excluding options.
