USCC live demo walk-through
The U.S. Composting Council (USCC) Conference and Tradeshow took place this winter in Los Angeles, where the organization also hosted its annual equipment demonstration for attendees.
Among the companies and brands showcasing equipment in the demo were Bandit Industries, CBI/Terex Ecotec, Doppstadt, Edge Innovate, Komptech Americas, LoadScan, Morbark, Peterson Pacific, Rotochopper, Tana, Terra Select and Vermeer. Here’s a sample of some of the equipment showcased:
Morbark
Morbark showcased early results of its partnership with Pronar, a Poland-based company that specializes in the manufacture of machinery equipment for agriculture, municipal services and the transportation industry, through a tracked version of the MPB 20.55 trommel screen. The trommel screen is co-branded by Morbark and Pronar.
“Expanding our product offerings further by partnering with Pronar to provide high-quality mobile trommel screens greatly benefits our customers who wish to expand their capabilities,” says Michael Stanton, director of industrial products at Morbark.
Available in four sizes, the MPB 20.55 trommel screens work with a variety of materials, including soil, compost, municipal waste, aggregate and biomass. Easy-to-use electronic controls allow the operator to tailor the operation parameters to the materials that need to be separated, according to Morbark. Several drums are available to meet specific customer needs, with round or square holes and of any mesh size, the company adds.
Vermeer
Vermeer demoed a few pieces, including the TR626 trommel screen with a radial stacking conveyor, the HG6000TX horizontal grinder, and the CT718 compost turner equipped with a two-wheel drive short track option.
According to Vermeer, the TR626, which features a 6-ft. drum and a hopper that holds 6 cu. yd., makes short work of processing material. The drum is accessible through removable side panels. Its 125-hp John Deere 4045 Tier 4 Final engine is a powerful workhorse, the company says. An optional radial stacking conveyor with a 180-degree arc increases the amount of material being stacked on the ground. The adjustable stacking height aids with dust control and helps to prevent material from blowing away.
The HG6000TX, meanwhile, self-propels into the most remote jobsites on 20-in. or 24-in. double grouser track pads, Vermeer says. High ground clearance and sealed rollers help keep material from building up in the track system. Also, equipped with a state-of-the-art wireless remote, an operator is able to run the machine from up to 300 ft. away. An optional discharge blower system distributes processed wood over a large area or can fill a covered trailer from the rear end, the company adds.
CBI/Terex Ecotec
CBI and Terex Ecotec offered demonstrations of the 6800BT horizontal grinder, the Terex Phoenix 3300 trommel screen and the Terex TWT 500 windrow turner.
According to CBI, the CBI 6800B (TBG680) delivers uncompromised production, efficiency, durability, quality and ease of maintenance. The Terex Phoenix 3300 trommel screen, meanwhile, features a robust design with optional features such as a heavy-duty tipping grid or a double-deck vibrating grid. And the TWT 500 is a powerful machine mixing the compost material with a rotor at low speed up front and discharging it behind the machine as an aerated, bulked and well-mixed end product, according to Terex Ecotec.
