Three partners in the aggregates industry brought Doppstadt products to the United States in 2002 after visiting the company in Germany and seeing potential to grow the organic composting market in the U.S. They called themselves Doppstadt US.

Over the past three years, the northeast Ohio-based company added more brands to its lineup – Backers, Backhus, Harvest Quest and Tiger. To eliminate any confusion, Doppstadt US renamed itself Ecoverse earlier this year.

Ecoverse hosted a launch party and showcase in Cleveland to highlight its brands and products to users and dealers. The company also set up educational sessions on sales training and composting trends.

“We needed to let people know who we are now,” says Warren Harte, national sales manager for Ecoverse. “We used the event to meet with customers we’ve had for years and get to know some new guys. It was great being able to meet our customers and for them to meet our team.”

While Harte says Ecoverse’s customers have diverse interests, the Doppstadt DZ750 shredder and grinder caught many people’s attention. He says the shredder and grinder works best for construction and demolition, composting and shingle recycling.

“It’s unique in that no one else has a machine that shreds and grinds in one piece of portable equipment,” Harte says. “To make a product, you usually have to burn upwards of 30 to 40 gallons of fuel an hour in a two-stage process. But this equipment provides a one-stage process, using only 20 gallons of fuel an hour.”

Almost 700 people attended the company’s showcase from around the world, according to Ecoverse. Chris Pap, the company’s marketing manager, says the show had a great turnout and that he’s excited to start planning for the second event Ecoverse will be hosting in 2017.
