ASV Holdings, a manufacturer of compact track loaders and skid steers, is exploring remote-control technology in effort to further innovate its machines and product lines.

According to ASV, remote-controlled machines offer a number of benefits, including increased efficiency by reducing the number of workers needed and completing tasks in difficult locations.

A test model was featured on ASV’s RT-120 Posi-Track loader at a recent ASV dealer meeting, giving dealers a hands-on opportunity to experience the tech. Standing outside an enclosed operating area, dealers were able to operate and direct the machine through a series of tasks, including digging, hauling and obstacle avoidance.

“We’re seeing the market for this type of technology advance at a rapid rate and it’s important for us to stay on the forefront,” says Buck Storlie, product line manager at ASV Holdings. “Though there are no plans for its immediate use, our dealers enjoyed testing the remote-control technology.”

ASV says it plans to continue testing remote control technology on equipment, as well as other technological advancements.
