Access to routine maintenance areas simplified on shredder

The Barracuda slow-speed shredder was designed with simplified maintenance and lower operating costs in mind, according to Morbark. All daily maintenance, including cleaning air filters and checking and changing fluids, can be done while standing at ground level. In addition, the Barracuda’s single rotor and bolt-on hammer inserts are designed to reduce maintenance times. A high-torque internal rotor gearbox helps to achieve greater fuel efficiency, Morbark adds, and a large hydraulic reservoir reduces operating temperatures. A ground-level adjustment door lets users adjust grates in as few as two minutes. Counter knives can be repositioned to five different heights – higher for waste wood or lower for industrial waste. “Adding the Barracuda shredder to our industrial product line allows our customers to easily expand their capabilities in C&D and industrial waste reduction,” says John Foote, Morbark’s vice president of sales and marketing, in a press release.
