An introduction to ConExpo
Nearly three months after I attended my first ConExpo-Con/Agg, I still don’t know if I’ve fully caught my breath.
The scale and scope of the show was unlike anything I’d ever experienced. Even after co-workers and industry members told me story after story about how big this show is, I was nowhere near prepared for exactly what ConExpo-Con/Agg had to offer.
Official numbers coming out of the show indicated that more than 139,000 people made the trek to Las Vegas and more than 2,400 exhibitors showed off their latest technology and equipment. This all took place across more than 3 million sq. ft. of exhibit space both indoors and outdoors.
The Portable Plants team made the most of all the show had to offer, stopping by booths, attending press conferences and writing up the latest news coming out of ConExpo-Con/Agg. Downtime was a rarity.
The way people talked about this show in an almost romanticized fashion made me expect to be blown away – and blown away I was. The seemingly endless expanses of massive equipment left me not only in awe, but wanting to take in and learn about as much as I could.
Still being somewhat new after joining Portable Plants in August 2021, I relish any opportunity to deepen my understanding of what this industry, its people and its equipment and technology are all about. I walked away from ConExpo-Con/Agg more knowledgeable than before I got there, and with a greater appreciation for the care and consideration that goes into making this crucial industry run.
Though the show was only five days long, I could have spent another five days walking around the show floor talking to exhibitors and attendees. I likely would have still barely scratched the surface of what the show had to offer.
I walked more in those five days than I did in the weeks leading up to the show, and I loved every second of it. As my head finally hit my pillow in the early hours of Sunday morning following the show, I was left in awe of what I had just experienced and found myself already excited for the next one in 2026.
