Caterpillar released new pin grabber couplers to improve operator productivity and equipment flexibility by allowing operators to change tools in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.
Cat’s couplers allow operators to switch from tasks such as breaking rocks to material handling to digging to grading and others with more ease, the company says. With the addition of both VB and HB linkage sizes of pin grabber couplers, Cat now features a coupler for every size of excavator from 311 to 390.
Cat’s pin grabber couplers ensure attachments are secure to the coupler via a redundant locking system. According to Cat, the spring-loaded arms keep the latch closed – even in the event of hydraulic pressure loss. The coupler frame’s cast pieces are made from abrasion-resistant steel for added durability.
In addition, the pin grabber coupler features both audible and visual cues for operators to indicate the coupler is secured to the attachment. The primary greasing block is the central greasing point for the pin grab coupler and is easily accessible at ground level, according to the company.
The shorter profile of the couplers maximize digging power, Cat says, as the distance from the end of the machine’s stick to the tip of the bucket’s teeth is kept compact. Furthermore, Cat’s pin grab couplers also allow operators to pick up a bucket in the reverse position to clean out square corners.
