Hillhead, the most prominent quarrying and construction equipment show in the UK, returns June 23-25 to the Hillhead Quarry in Buxton, England.
The summer show, which QMJ Group hosts every two years, is expected to be the biggest in the 44-year history of Hillhead. More than 600 exhibitors plan to participate – including many that are familiar to U.S. and Canadian aggregate producers.
Among the manufacturers and brands exhibiting are Astec Industries, Bunting Magnetics, CDE, CheckProof, Command Alkon, Edge Innovate, Eriez, EvoQuip, Finlay, Magna, Major, McLanahan, Powerscreen, RubbleCrusher, Rulmeca, Sandvik, SBM Mineral Processing, SEW-EuroDrive, Smiley Monroe, Superior Industries, Terex Washing Systems, Volvo Construction Equipment, Weir, Wirtgen Group and Xylem.
Several of these companies will even participate in Hillhead’s working demonstrations, which are divided into four areas: quarry face, rock processing, recycling and registration.
A variety of equipment will be in action at the quarry face, including large excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, dozers, hydraulic breakers, screening buckets and mist cannons. Tracked and skid-mounted crushers, screens, scalpers and stockpiling conveyors can be viewed in the rock processing area. The recycling area south of the exhibition site will showcase a range of specialized crushers, screens, shredders and washing equipment.
Additionally, rock processing and recycling demos will be present in Hillhead’s registration area.
What exhibitors are touting
Ahead of Hillhead, several exhibitors previewed their equipment and technology plans.
Haver & Boecker Niagara, for example, will put screen media and diagnostics at center stage. The company will emphasize the importance of choosing the correct media, showcasing its Ty-Wire with a hybrid design that provides more open area than modular polyurethane.
Additionally, Haver & Boecker Niagara will showcase Major’s Flex-Mat screen media, which allows more throughput through amplified material stratification and additional open area.
“Hillhead is an important show for the industry,” says Martin Loughran, Haver & Boecker Niagara’s sales manager for the UK and Ireland. “We deeply value our relationships in the region. Hillhead presents an excellent opportunity for us to show how we’re not just a supplier but a committed partner that offers innovative technologies, long-term service and technical support.”
The Wirtgen Group, meanwhile, says its Hillhead focus will be on end-to-end solutions for the materials processing sector, with plans to feature five Kleemann crushers and screens. A battery-electric production system for road rehabilitation is also slated to appear at the Wirtgen Group booth.
Separately, Edge Innovate outlined plans for its Hillhead display. The company will show the ScreenPro S16, which is the newest model in the ScreenPro range.
According to Edge Innovate, the S16 emerged following the introduction of the S18. The S16 can handle up to 600 tph, featuring a 16-ft. x 5-ft. two-deck screen that offers a 14-square meter screening surface with adjustable screening angles of 14 to 20 degrees.
Momentum building
Showgoers will have plenty to explore outdoors across Hillhead’s three days, with the show also welcoming more indoor exhibitors – nearly 300 – than ever before.
“We are delighted to have all the major OEMs confirmed for the show, and we are seeing that momentum spread across all areas of the showground as the appetite for both indoor and outdoor space continues to build,” says Richard Bradbury, Hillhead event director.”
