When I joined Portable Plants and our sister publication Pit & Quarry, one of the first things I was told about the industries we cover was how great the people are.

I had no doubt this was going to be the case, as my earliest exploits seemed to confirm the industy’s people to be of the salt of the earth variety. Once I ventured to trade shows, visited operations and got to know the industry’s leaders, I was not disappointed.

The knowledge and experience these men and women possess is impressive in its own right. But what makes the industry’s people even better is how down to earth and willing to share stories many are.

As a trade publication, it is our job to highlight these individuals and present their insights. And while we pride ourselves on putting together a quality product, we are always looking for new and engaging ways to interact with industry members and readers.

That is why I am pleased to present the inaugural Portable Plants editorial advisory board (EAB).

Industry insights

The EAB has been a work in progress for the last six months leading up to this month’s issue. Working with the Portable Plants team (Tim Carolin, Rob Fulop, Dino Vitanza and Kevin Yanik) as well as our designers (Pete Seltzer and Kim Traum) to make this addition to the magazine the best it can be has been rewarding.

Our goal was to get a mix of industry members ranging from manufacturers to dealers to end users. We are incredibly grateful to our inaugural EAB and look forward to sharing their insights moving forward.

Thank you to our EAB participants: Riley Arndt (Superior Industries); Clement Cazalot (Machinery Partner); Jim Marzolino (Kriger Construction); Tim Smith (Maverick Environmental Equipment); Billy Stump II (Screen Machine Industries); Steve Valle (Fred Weber); Jason Waddell (Jones Bros. Contractors); and Lee Williamson (Edge Innovate). We appreciate your willingness to share your insights with us.

This month’s prompt asked participants to share their thoughts on how they have fared over the first half of 2024, and what they expect from the second half of the year.

While not all participants are represented in this first edition of the EAB, you can look forward to hearing from all eight as Portable Plants publishes its September and December issues.
