Pat Nelson, regional vice president of Granite Construction and president of Lehmen-Roberts Co., has been elected National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) 2025 chairman of the board.
Lehman-Roberts, a Granite company, was a founding member of NAPA 70 years ago, and Nelson’s steady involvement in NAPA has spanned two decades. He has served the association in numerous capacities, including eight years of board service, 18 years of involvement on the legislative committee and participation in NAPA’s Political Action Committee (PAC) since its inception in 2008.
These continue to be strong areas of interest for Nelson, the association says, fueling his passion for advocacy within the industry. A key area of focus during his chairmanship is to promote renewed federal investment for highways and resources for asphalt-specific issues through NAPA’s PAC.
“The construction field has always been about the people,” Nelson says. “Both past and present generations contribute to an amazing industry that furthers the well-being of our local communities and economy. It’s up to us to ensure the sustainability of this industry, and we do that through advocacy.”
NAPA president and CEO Audrey Copeland is excited for what Nelson brings to this new position.
“Through Pat’s service on NAPA’s board of directors, I’ve observed a thoughtful, accomplished leader who truly cares about the people of Lehman-Roberts, along with everyone who plays a part in building our nation’s roadways,” Copeland says. “Pat will take NAPA’s advocacy efforts to the next level as we work with the U.S. Congress to improve infrastructure investment in this critical year. Our industry and members are thrilled to welcome him as our chairman.”
