Ramco crushing it in California

Beaumont in Southern California is home to a dump location for Ramco, a construction materials company that specializes in recycled aggregates.
The third-generation family-owned and operated company, which services Riverside and San Bernandino counties, has been recycling concrete and asphalt for nearly 50 years. Customers range from general contractors such as the state, the city and municipalities, to individual homeowners and the movie industry.
Ramco receives the concrete and asphalt from its customers, crushes it and reloads the material back into customer trucks at one of its processing locations. The company also contracts to crush at customer sites.
California presents numerous opportunities to recycle concrete as the vast amount of infrastructure in the area provides a large need for recycled concrete materials.
This is where Kleemann’s Mobirex MR 130 Zi EVO2 impact crusher comes in for Ramco. The plant crushes roughly 18-in. material down to a 1-in. recycled concrete product.
Kleemann prides its MR 130 Zi EVO2 on providing product quality and impressive throughputs. Easy to transport and with short setup times during commissioning and maintenance, the plant enables Ramco to crush wherever necessary, Kleemann says.
These features allow Ramco to crush material directly where customers need it.
“Working with the Kleemann is fantastic,” says Dallas Jones, vice president of operations at Ramco. “[There are] a lot of great features on it and we really love it. This is really good for us because we could go between our facilities and crush and even go crush for some of our customers. They have a pile that they need to have crushed up, and it is too much to bring into one of our yards. So we will go over there to crush it on site for them.”

The Mobirex MR 130 Zi EVO2 features a diesel direct-drive concept that ensures high performance with economical consumption at the same time, Kleemann says. Additionally, the system widths of the impact crusher open in the direction of the material flow for better utilization and higher productivity.
The plant also features a continuous feed system (CFS), which controls the frequency of the vibrating feeder and the prescreen in relation to the crusher load. The CFS helps facilitate the operator’s work by automatically controlling material flow to ensure optimum loading of the crusher.
“The Kleemann EVO2 impact crusher is wonderful,” says Darrel Burroughs, operator at Ramco. “It’s extremely user-friendly [and] simple. The technology involved with it with all the sensors and the safety features are extremely handy.”
Featuring Kleemann’s Spective operating concept, operation of the Mobirex MR 130 Zi EVO2 has become even easier, the company says. The machine is controlled via a 12-in. touch panel.
Clear operating instructions and pictograms actively support users in finding just the right setting to take on any task quickly, precisely and simply via touchscreen, according to Kleemann. This helps users avoid operating errors and improve occupational safety. Additionally, important functions such as the crusher gap adjustment are easily executed, some even during operation of the machine.
“Spective is almost too easy,” Burroughs says. “It doesn’t take much of an operator to run it. Operation does not require a lot of experience. Overall, the Kleemann MR 130 Zi EVO2 impact crusher is extremely user-friendly and easy to handle.”
