Ciarán Ryan, a cofounder and sales director of Screencore, has died. He was 52.
Ryan established Screencore in 2017 alongside James McGrath and Martin Maye. The Northern Ireland-based company manufactures mobile crushing and screening equipment.
Ryan’s career in the industry began with Extec Screens & Crushers, where he served as area sales manager in Germany. He later joined Erin Systems as sales manager before becoming managing director.
According to Screencore, Ryan’s career took a dramatic turn following his tenure at Erin Systems, as he became a commercial helicopter pilot in South Africa. Ryan returned to mobile crushing and screening in 2008, joining Fintec as global export sales manager.
Following Sandvik Mining & Construction’s acquisition of Fintec, Ryan was named a sales manager for the company’s mobile crushing and screening business unit in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He became OEM business manager in 2011 before assuming responsibility for sales in northern Europe.
According to Screencore, Ryan continued helping the company grow despite being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Bairbre, and three children.
