Construction industry unites while (temporarily) apart

While the industry stretches from coast to coast across all states and regions of the United States, it’s more tightly-knit than it might seem at first glance.

The future, as has always been the case, is unpredictable. But those words ring truer now more than ever.

As we close the first half of what’s been a challenging few months for the industry – and the world as a whole – it’s worth taking time to remind yourself that tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

In this issue of Portable Plants, my first as editor-in-chief, you’ll find positive stories from around the industry. The construction-related industries are largely deemed essential during the coronavirus pandemic, and they continue to persevere through trying times.

Elephant in the room

Undoubtedly, we have all been affected by the coronavirus, some more than others, and in different ways.

While we certainly address the coronavirus in this issue, many of the stories reflect a couple of common themes: unity and teamwork.

Whether it’s a Maryland recycler donating 36,000 N95 masks to a local medical center (page 23) or manufacturers shifting operations to produce PPE for medical professionals and first responders (page 38), the industry is rising to the occasion.

As one Florida-based equipment dealer says (page 24), it’s encouraging to see the industry pull together not only for each other, but for those in their communities directly impacted by the coronavirus. While the industry stretches from coast to coast across all states and regions of the United States, it’s more tightly-knit than it might seem at first glance.

Blueprint

Simply put, our magazine strives for balance by being forthright and honest to keep you, the reader, informed and up to date.

As always, you’ll find the latest technology and equipment developments in this issue of Portable Plants. You’ll also find the latest economic news and safety updates from around the industry, and how those might impact your operation.

Ahead of the next print edition, you can also stay up to date online at PortablePlants.com and by following us on social media. However, we can’t tell those stories without you, the reader. So feel free to reach out (zmentz@northcoastmedia.net) to share how you and your company are operating these days and to share updates.

While we may not cross paths at an industry event or trade show in the next few months, we hope Portable Plants can help bring the industry together while we’re (temporarily) apart.
