Volvo debuts excavator, wheel loaders at ICUEE

The excavator provides increased fuel efficiency while the two wheel loaders meet the latest emissions standards.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) introduced its 2.7-ton EC27D excavator, L20H wheel loader and L25H wheel loader at the International Construction & Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE).

The additional of the EC27D expands the company’s excavator lineup while the L20H and L25H represent the company’s H-Series compact wheel loader line.

According to the company, the excavator features 5 percent greater fuel economy and has 30 percent less horsepower when compared to its predecessor.

The EC27D boasts a Volvo D1.1A Tier 4 Final engine with passive regeneration. According to the company, the EC27D features more than 9,600 pounds of digging force.

“The EC27D is a great addition to the Volvo compact excavator line,” says John Comrie, product manager at Volvo CE. “Its size, stability and lifting capacity make it perfect for utility work and rental companies — it’s one machine that can do everything.”

Additionally, the EC27D features a ROPS/FOPS canopy or the optional Volvo Care Cab, designed to enhance operator control, comfort and productivity. The EC27D includes an automatic two-speed travel system and the operator can continually drive the machine at a high speed, which is automatically reduced when more traction is required.

According to the company, the EC27D is compatible with all Volvo attachments.

The L20H and L25H, meanwhile, are designed to meet the latest emission regulations, according to the company.

Volvo says the L20H and L25H are powered by a Volvo D2.6M Tier 4 Final water-cooled engine with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) that eliminates the need for regeneration or additives. The L20H and L25H also have 5 percent greater fuel efficiency and 8 percent more horsepower than their predecessor models, the company says. To improve cycle times, the fully automatic hydrostatic drive has two speed settings, with the ability to reach maximum speeds of 18.6 mph.

“With their compact size and maneuverability, the L20H and L25H are versatile machines for many jobsites,” Comrie says. “For example, the low-profile design is optimal for loading and unloading containers, and the low center of gravity gives added stability for carrying heavy loads on rough terrain.”

Standing at a height of 8 ft., 1 in. tall and boasting a turning radius of 26 ft., 11 in., the H-Series wheel loaders offer maneuverability in confined spaces, the company says.

The H-Series compact wheel loaders offer all-around visibility, have minimal noise and vibration levels and an adjustable steering column, according to the company. The FOPS/ROPS cab is larger than predecessor models and feature more window area.

A single joystick lever offers control of three functions, including the hydraulic attachments, multi-purpose buckets, sweepers and augers. The flow sharing valve allows lift and tilt corrections during hydraulic attachment operation. The compact wheel loaders are fitted with a single inching brake pedal, allowing operators to work at a creeping pace.
