Our customer base was undeniably strong in 2023. We witnessed a remarkable demand from our customer base, leading to a substantial backlog of work. What’s even more impressive is that both our customers and Astec experienced a record-breaking year, underscoring their commitment and satisfaction.
Looking ahead to 2024, we remain optimistic despite concerns over inflation and the looming possibility of a recession. Our industry continues to thrive with healthy equipment demand, and our customers share our positive outlook. The upward trajectory of manufacturing and construction sectors in 2023 is expected to persist into the upcoming year, offering a promising landscape for growth.
Inflation and pricing remain paramount concerns, with persistent supply chain issues demanding our attention. The potential threat of a government shutdown and an impending recession further add to our apprehension.
Amid these challenges, our optimism for the coming year is fueled by several key developments. The Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act set the stage for increased contract awards in infrastructure projects, particularly in areas such as highways, bridges and airports. State department of transportation budgets are on the rise, offering a consistent source of demand.
Additionally, 2023 saw the introduction and enhancement of several innovative products. As we move into 2024 and beyond, we are committed to leveraging these advancements to expand our market share and reach, further solidifying our presence in the industry.
