Brokk released its atomized water mist system to mitigate harmful silica dust and other airborne particles.

The atomized water mist system is available for all Brokk remote-controlled demolition robots, and is an ideal solution to combat hazardous dust in demolition applications, the company says. The system produces atomized fog that binds dust particles in the air while also providing ground-level dust suppression.

According to the company, the system provides a safer, cleaner job site as the mist dissipates rather than forming puddles. This, in turn, improves safety by reducing the risk for slips and falls while also reducing the need for cleaning at the end of the day.

According to Brokk, the atomized water mist system requires less water than other methods – just 6.76 oz. per minute – making it more environmentally and economically friendly. The system is incorporated into the tool mounting instead of the tool itself, allowing operators to use it with any Brokk attachment.

“Silica dust remained a concern because it is difficult to contain,” says Martin Krupicka, president and CEO of the Brokk Group. “We wanted to find a more efficient solution that optimized safety without the mess.”
