Develon debuted the DX300LC-9 excavator, the latest addition to the company’s -9 Series lineup.
Following the debut of the -9 Series at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2026, Develon has already released several models in the series (the DX230LC-9, DX260LC-9, DX360LC-9 and DX400LC-9). The company says it will eventually expand its entire lineup of -9 Series excavators to replace the -7 Series models offered throughout North America.
“Develon continues to build on the success of our -9 Series lineup of crawler excavators with more machines that help our customers improve their productivity, precision, safety and uptime protection,” says Brian Kim, crawler excavator product manager at Develon. “These machines are equipped with a fully electro-hydraulic control system and deliver up to 8 percent better fuel efficiency. A suite of integrated technology, including a 360-degree smart around view monitor camera, optional advanced lift assist, remote smartphone start, factory 2D grading and real-time oil diagnostics, keeps operators working safely and productively.”
As a 30-ton size class excavator, the DX300LC-9 is suitable for operations such as mass earthmoving and site development, utility and underground infrastructure work, civil and transportation projects, demolition, quarrying and material handling.
“This excavator size is considered the ‘sweet spot’ for production-heavy jobs,” Kim says. “They’re powerful enough to handle heavy digging and demanding demolition tasks, yet easy to transport on a standard lowboy trailer.”
Excavator features
Along with optional advanced lift assist, which displays real-time lifting capacity and warns operators of potential tipping risks, the DX300LC-9 comes with several other features that Develon says streamlines demanding tasks while keeping operators comfortable.
The breaker assist function prevents blank firing to protect internal components from wear, while the auto breaker setting removes continuous butting pressing to reduce hand fatigue. A weighing system tracks production levels in real time to ensure dump trucks are loaded quickly, safely and to exact weight limits. Customizable joystick controls simplify movement in tight spaces with stick steer and thumbwheel steering options, and operators can personalize controls alongside traditional pedals to match their preferred operating style, according to Develon.
The company also says several features are designed to keep operators and crews safe. The DX300LC-9 incorporates AI cameras, radar and automated controls that work together to catch hazards and prevent accidents.
A smart around view monitor camera system and human detection system is made up of six cameras, radar sensors and AI-powered human detection that provides a 360-degree view around the machine. The Develon E-Stop feature automatically slows the excavator when it detects a person within 13 ft. and brings the machine to a complete stop when someone is within 6.5 ft. The DX300LC-9 also uses virtual walls to set digital boundaries and prevent the excavator boom or bucket from striking overhead power lines or underground obstacles.
Inside the cab, Develon says it has wrapped precision guidance, predictive machine health tracking and seamless cab controls into one connected system.
Through the 12-in. touch screen, operators can manage functions like heating and cooling, selectable power modes and hydraulic flow for attachments. Integrated 2D/3D machine guidance helps operators navigate complex, multi-dimensional and large-scale projects where the jobsite terrain changes continuously, according to the company. The advanced prognostics and health management technology standard offering tracks engine oil, hydraulic fluid, main pump and swing motor health to reduce machine downtime, while the premium offering adds targeted vibration and pressure sensors for real-time diagnostics on the excavator’s swing motor, main pump and reduction gear. A digital key managed by the My Develon telematics app allows operators to unlock the cab, start the engine and adjust air conditioning remotely.
