Kleemann earned an internationally recognized award for a safety feature on one of its mobile crushing plants.
The International Social Security Association (ISSA) honored Kleemann for its lock-and-turn quick access system, which is installed as standard on the Mobirex MR 100 NEO. According to Kleemann, the system allows operators to open and close the crusher housing at the push of a button – but only after the rotor has come to a complete stop.
The design reduces the risk associated with accessing the crushing chamber during or immediately following operation. Previously, Kleemann says opening the crusher housing required operators to manually loosen bolted connections – including many that resided in hard-to-reach areas.
These steps are now eliminated with lock-and-turn quick access, allowing material bridging to be cleared more quickly. Tool-free opening of the crusher is another feature that guarantees fast service and maintenance, the company says.
With the award selection, Kleemann says the ISSA jury emphasized that its solution not only increases safety but simplifies workflows. Because the housing can be opened in about 30 seconds, visual inspections and maintenance work can be carried out faster. This facilitates early detection of wear, Kleemann adds.
“Our lock-and-turn quick access allows our customers to open the crusher very quickly at the push of a button,” says Laurin Winter, who handles product management for mobile impact crushers at Kleemann. “This takes a mere 30 seconds. The operator, thus, has a full view of the crushing chamber very quickly and without any manual intervention at all. A blow bar replacement, for example, is extremely convenient.”
The ISSA Section Machine & System Safety regularly invites entries for its safety award to encourage manufacturers to prioritize machine safety and ergonomics. The award is presented every three years.
